As if Californians didn’t need any more reasons to not over use water, the state has enacted a punitive measure against those who use too much water. Moreover, California is officially the driest it’s ever been since the 1970’s and 58% of the state hit their driest level ever.
More than 50% percent of the state is under the most severe drought level since the United States government started reporting drought levels in the late 1990’s.
There are five levels of drought that California has to measure the level drought that an area is going through. The harshest of the five levels is “exceptional”, and it is estimated that approximately 58% of California was experiencing this level of “exceptional” drought, which does not bode well for the future outlook of California’s water usage.
