Californians Are Installing Fake Grass As Drought Continues

Southern California is rife with brown lawn due to the five year drought and water restrictions. However, more and more residents are installing fake grass as a way to ensure their property looks nice despite the increasing temperatures.

“It looks terrible,” Torres, 49, said as he looked at his brown yard. “I’ve been trying to save water. They said, ‘brown is the new green.'”

Graham said he installed fake grass about three weeks ago after seeing his water bill nearly triple following rate hikes.
